This guided walking weekend to the Cotswolds in England can be extended with an optional third walking day;

Day 1 - Friday - Meet for drinks and dinner at 7:00pm followed by slides of the Cotswold Landscape

Day 2 - Saturday - Aldestrop: Where for a moment a blackbird sang (9 miles). Adlestrop, the village is famous for the poem 'Adlestrop' written by Edward Thomas at the brink of the First World War and for Jane Austen who stayed there with her uncle. The Adlestrop walk also takes in Jacobean and Regency country houses with associations with famous historic figures. On this walk there is always something of interest around the corner.

Day 3 - Sunday - Villages on the Edge: Broadway, Buckland and Stanway (7 miles). The market town of Broadway was once an important staging post on the main road from Worcester to London. At the turn of the 20th century Broadway was 'discovered' by American artists, Edwin Abbot and Frank Millet, and Henry Forde stayed at the famous Lygon Arms Hotel and was a centre for artists of the Arts and Crafts Movement. The famous furniture designer, Gordon Russell also had his workshop and showroom there. It is now a favourite tourist attraction with an abundance of antique and tea shops. More picturesque villages and ancient churches along the springline of the Cotswold escarpment. Magnificent views across the Severn Valley to the Malvern Hills and on a good day the Welsh border.

Day 4 - Monday (optional, not included) - Windrush and Eye: Valleys that time forgot (9 miles). Far from the madding crowd, in the upper Windrush valley, Cotswold sheep continue to graze the unimproved pasture as they have done for centuries. In 1935, almost half of the Cotswolds was covered in this flower rich limestone grassland but today just a small amount remains. We will walk up the valley to the deserted medieval village of Lower Harford and over the windswept Cotswold plateau to the Eye valley and through the villages of Upper and Lower Slaughter.
