This guided trail walking holiday to England follows the Oxfordshire Way and passes through some of the loveliest parts of the heart of England's green and pleasant land.

It visits quiet villages with ancient churches built from honey coloured limestone. Leaving the Cotswolds, it passes very close to Blenheim Palace, the world heritage site where Winston Churchill was born before crossing the wide Thames valley. It then climbs to the Chiltern Hills, with their stunning beech woods and flint and brick buildings, before dropping down to the River Thames.

Walking along the Oxfordshire Way

The Oxfordshire Way starts at Bourton-on-the-Water and winds its way through west and south Oxfordshire to Henley-on-Thames, taking in the Cotswold and Chiltern Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The total walking distance of this trail walking holiday is 68 miles. The walking grade is moderate with two short ascents of around 500ft (150m); one at the beginning when leaving Bourton-on-the-Water and the other near the end when ascending the escarpment onto the Chilterns.

Day 1 - Meet at Bourton-on-the-Water.

Day 2 - Walk from Bourton to Ascott-under-Wychwood (11.9 miles)

Day 3 - Walk from Shipton to Woodstock (13.9 miles)

Day 4 - Visit Blenheim Palace and walk to Islip (12.9 miles)

Day 5 - Walk from Heathfield to Waterperry Common (12.9 miles)

Day 6 - Walk from Waterperry Common to Watlington (14.5 miles)

Day 7 - Walk from Watlington to Henley over the Chilterns (10.7 miles)

Day 8 - Departure from Henley

To travel to the starting point of this walking holiday, it is possible to travel by train to Moreton-in-Marsh, and take a taxi or bus to Bourton. Also from Birmingham and Heathrow airport you can travel by train to Moreton-on-Marsh. The holiday provider can give you more information.

It is possible to book an extra night accommodation at the end of this walking holiday. This holiday has a few fixed dates each year, but the Oxfordshire way walking holiday can also run for you or your group at other dates on request.
