During this guided walking holiday in France you will walk in vineyards in the Dordogne valley and enjoy the hearty welcome of the organic winemakers that own them.

You will explore vineyards in Saussignac, Bergerac and Bordeaux, all organic vineyards, or vineyards in conversion to organic. Picnic lunches with wine, dinners and organised wine tastings are included.

Accommodation is in a luxury guesthouse and on a wine estate.

Accommodation in the Dordogne valley

You will stay for two nights in a luxury ecological wine-lodge that is semi-detached from the main farm house on the organic wine estate of your hosts. There are views over the vineyards and a forested valley from the accommodation. The generous seating area is furnished with comfortable sofa and chairs and the separate bedroom is furnished with a kingsize double bed which can be changed to two single beds if required. There is a large private bathroom with a bath and stand-alone shower. A second double bedroom is also present, the accommodation sleeps 2-4 people. You can also use the swimming pool.

Three breakfasts are included in this walking holiday in France. Also included is a lunch with wine at a Michelin starred restaurant and a wine and food pairing lunch made primarily from local organic produce. This is a great way to explore wine and food pairing with 5 different wines and an array of different tastes including 4 different cheeses, duck (a speciality in the region) and local organic trout.

Walking in the Dordogne vineyards

The walks of this walking holiday are easy from 6 to 12kms a day with stops at vineyards and for lunch along the way. The walking is generally a relaxed pace but can be more vigourous on request.

En route walking with a local winemaker and certified wine educator you will discover the history of the region, the wines, winegrowing and also the intricacies of organic and biodynamic viticulture.

Dordogne Wine and Walking holiday itinerary

Day 1 - Arrive late afternoon/ evening to welcome drinks at Château Feely then enjoy a delicious meal with your hosts at your Guest House five minutes away. Relax in the pool or hot-tub on the deck.

Day 2 - The first leg of the journey takes you on a beautiful ridge above the Dordogne Valley to a wine-tasting and a picnic lunch at a Saussignac winegrower en route. In the afternoon you'll visit a beautiful organic estate then make for your overnight stay at a charming Chambre d'Hote on a wine estate where you'll have aperitifs. In the evening you enjoy a well-deserved and delicious dinner at your guest house.

Day 3 - On the second leg of the Organic Vineyard Route you'll visit another excellent organic winemaker which will also be the picnic lunch stop. Then you make your way back to your original guest house stopping at one last wine farm on the way. Enjoy farewell drinks with your hosts and a final evening with dinner at your Guest House.

Day 4 - Breakfast at your guest house before departure. Optional day tours (not included) available.
