Based in the picturesque village of Parcent (famously quoted by Gabriel Miro as “Paradise between the mountains”) you will explore all the surrounding valleys sometimes through forests, vineyards and fruit groves full of almonds, cherries, oranges or olives or over gentle but fascinating limestone mountains. Magnificent coastal and inland vistas.

These are half day walks allowing time after to explore the villages (steeped in history and virtually untouched by time) and visit the local bodegas and restaurants.

We aim to support the rural community here as much as we can, buying their produce and dining at their restaurants. In total you will only need to pay for 3 additional meals during your holiday and the average price for a very decent 3 course meal with wine is between 10-20E.

We aim to give you a taste of all the great walks around here; walks through forests and agricultural plots; vineyards, almond, cherry and orange groves and some easy mountains. Fantastic vistas out towards the coast and to the mountainous valleys inland, the area really has something for everyone.

Most are circular walks on good paths around 7-12km and under 1000m ascents. (All walk distances and ascents can be altered to your requirements) all transportation is provided to and from the walks.

This is a sample week in which grades, distances and ascents can all be increased or decreased according to your groups’ preference. Likewise because we are independent we are able to add personal touches to your holiday, perhaps less/more trips to Bodegas, more time spent in the villages or arrange for you to visit a particular place.

Day 1 - Arrival. A friendly face to welcome you at the airport and transfer you to your accommodation. A little free time to unpack and settle in followed by a late afternoon BBQ with your hosts.

Day 2 - Into the Hidden Valley.... Our first walk starts in the picturesque Moorish village of Lliber with the traditional quaint narrow streets adorned with beautiful flowers. A very gentle ascent leads us above the village giving panoramic views across the vineyards of the Jalon Valley and the Sierra de Ferrer and Venta beyond before descending into the gorge (Barranco) of the Jalon River. We follow Mozarbic paths through the forest leading us into the Hidden Valley. Stats; 10km, Ascent 262m. We return to Parcent for Paella and Sangria at L’Era. Time for a quick stroll around Parcent then back for an early night ready to....

Day 3 - Escape from it all.... Over to the timeless Castells Valley for our next walk. A totally tranquil area offering stunning inland vistas and a chance to see the natural rock arches. The climb to the top is well worthwhile as the illuminating Guadalest valley and lakes are spread out before you. A slightly rocky walk back down into the village building your appetite just nicely for a fabulous menu del dia at one of the areas highly recommended restaurants. Stats; 10.4k, Ascent 387m. We conclude the day with an excursion to Parcents own prestigious Bodega for an evening of wine tasting and tapas.

Day 4 - The Almond Blossom Walk. Always a beautiful walk but especially in February when the valley turns pink with the almond blossom and the air is filled with its delicate fragrance. However if the heady scents of the orange blossom are more your thing then April is your time. Once again spectacular views (and a great bar) at the top. The trail leads into historical Jalon with its world famous wine production, following the “route of the raisins” around the Riu Raus, the arched fronted buildings used for scalding and drying the grapes, a highly lucrative business that transformed towns like Jalon in the 18th and 19th century) Stats: 15k, Ascent 450m. (Optionally 10k with no ascent). Jalon has maintained its traditional charm and is a delight to wander around, a stunning church, several museums and many Restaurants, Bars and Bodegas.

Day 5 - Day off. Optional transportation to Denia or Moraira. Both on the coast with heaps of history and lovely coastal walks. We will provide you with maps and notes on points of interest and pick you up at a designated time and place.

Day 6 - Historic Villages. A linear walk this time starting from the small village of Murla whose small Ermita (Church) on the hill is said to be the oldest in the Valencian region. Then following good tracks through a mixture of environments, forest and agricultural, we make our way to each of the villages making up the Vall de Laguar an area of outstanding beauty, highly popular with walkers due to its magnificent vistas. A quick drive over to Benichembla to see the last of the villages and a chance to stock up on their famous olive oil noted as being the best around. A free evening with transport provided if you wish to venture out to one of the local restaurants.

Day 7 - Saving the best for last! Caballo Verde Ridge. We drive back up into the cherry growing Vall de Laguar to start our final walk. There are many different options for duration and ascent here but all leading to the most spectacular views of all; Valencia in one direction, North Alicante in the other and on a clear day The Balearic Islands straight ahead. Easy walking paths throughout, who could ask for more? Home for a clean-up then back with your hosts for your farewell evening of more Tapas, Paella, wine and music.

Day 8 - Return transport to the airport and goodbyes.
