This guided walking holiday leads you through magnificent landscapes of the Wilder Kaiser in the Austrian Tyrol. You will admire an astonishing 360° panorama of the Alps from the highest Kaiser Peak, the Ellmauer Halt (2344m).
You will also climb the Via ferratas in the Wilder Kaiser, follow the Eagle's Way and the Wilder Kaiser Pathway.
During this 6 day trail walking holiday to Austria we will stay in basic mountain huts in shared accommodation or rooms when requested. An additional charge will apply.
All meals we have in the huts. Breakfast is typical Austrian with bread, butter, jam, cheese and ham. We will take packed picnic lunches from the huts. Dinner is a 3 course meal.
A good level of fitness is required for this walking holiday, you will walk about 5 -7 hours per day. Walking is challenging at the Via Ferratas so you need a good head for heights. You will get to climb some of the most spectacular peaks in the Wilder Kaiser Range. Walks are available all summer long.
The itinerary of this guided walking holiday may have to change according to the local weather conditions.
Day 1 - We start from Scheffau and walk to the most westerly hut in the Kaiser Mountain Range, the Waller Alm. Following the famous Tirolean Eagles Way along the south side of the Wilder Kaiser we ascend the Hoch Egg from which we will enjoy views into Bavaria and up the Inn Valley towards Innsbruck. We will then continue to the Kaindl Hut, enjoying an interesting path and stunning views along the way. The hut itself is located amongst pretty alpine pastures.
Day 2 - On the second day we will climb our first peak in the Wilder Kaiser mountains. The route takes us over our first Via Ferrata up to the top of the Scheffauer. This is our first opportunity to test our head for heights! After a break we will then set off for the Hans Berger Haus where we will sleep. The path takes us below the amazing rock faces of the Totenkirchls, one of the famous Kaiser peaks. The Stripsenjoch Hut, the hut on our 3rd night, is well-used by climbers as it is located at the base of many classic alpine ascents and therefore enjoys fantastic views.
Day 3 to Day 5 - Over the next few days we will walk over meadows, undertake some via ferrata, follow some stunning pathways to make the most of what the Wilder Kaiser has to offer. We will also ascend the highest Kaiser Peak, the Ellmauer Halt at 2344m from where we can enjoy a 360° panorama of the Alps.
Day 6 - On the sixth day we will return to Scheffau where we will finish the tour with coffee and cake.
