Flashlight of impressions: In the Vrmac range, dividing the inner and outer bay you find atmospheric villages and fabulous views to the UNESCO World Heritage Bay of Kotor. A hike up to Pastrovačka Gora takes you to ancient monasteries and amazing views of the coastline of Budva and Sveti Stefan, the famous hotel island. Also National park Lovćen, home to the Mausoleum of the poet and bishop – Petar II Petrovic Njegos, has in particular a large network of hiking and biking trails. As a reward, unique views to the open sea and Boka Bay are waiting for you. Explore the rich fauna and flora of the biggest lake of the Balkans in the Nationalpark Lake Skadar.

Walking in the Lake Skadar region

Lake Skadar, the biggest lake at the Balkan peninsula features a very rich bird fauna.

Daily walking time is around 6-7 hours. You'll be walking mainly over good trails (military, shepherds trails), short sections on gravel road, some steep and rocky ascents and descents; height difference up to 900 metres;

For all hikes a small day-rucksack is needed only! Transfers included, luggage transfers included.

This is a self-guided tour with an orientation meeting at beginning of the tour where you'll receive maps, instructions, a cell phone and guide books

Lake Skadar walking holiday itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival at Dubrovnik or Podgorica airport: Transfer to Bay of Kotor. Overnight in 3*hotel in Bay of Kotor.

Day 2 - Mount Vrmac is situated like a barrier between the innermost part of the Bay ( Bay of Kotor) and the outer part (Bay of Tivat). The hike starts in Tivat up to the Fortres Vrmac. From here you follow the mountain ridge and the descend follows an old shepherd's trail down a village. Overnight in 3*hotel in Bay of Kotor.

Day 3 - Another top tour: On the northern side of the bay, you will be transferred to Orahovac village, follow a zig-zag-trail through the woods to a deserted village called Stepen. From there you go up on the backside of a hill to the ruins of Vranovo Brdo fortress, where an absolutely breathtaking view awaits you. Then another military path takes you down to the small town Perast. There it is possible to take a boat to visit the famous island with the church Gospa od Skrpjela (our Lady of the Rock). Transfer to Kotor. Overnight in 3*hotel in Bay of Kotor.

Day 4 - While we walk, our luggage changes Right from the old town of Kotor we follow the old trade route which once connected Cetinje with Kotor – even Billard tables were transported along this trail! This old horse trail with more than 70 zig-zags to Krstac pass offers countless magnificent views of the whole bay. Upon arrival at the pass 900m, use a chance to try local Njegusi ham and cheese. Transfer to the old capital of Cetinje, where the old buildings of the powers of the 19th century stand in big contrast to the simple architecture of the local architecture style. Overnight in Pansion Cetinje.

Day 5 - Tour in the National park Skadar lake. Transfer to the old village of Rijeka Crnojevica. Upon arrival you follow a river, pass an old hydropower station, ruins of a mill and finally reach the cave (20 m wide, 10 m high and around 60 m long, completely lit by daylight). The way back crosses the river, ascends to a nice viewpoint and to the oldest part of the village with church and graveyard, and at the end you cross the ancient stone bridge to get directly back to the village center. After return use opportunity to visit honey and wine farm and try local homemade products. Transfer to Budva. Overnight in 3* hotel in Budva.

Day 6 - Panorama hike above of Budva. A short transfer (30min) takes us to our starting point above of Budva. There we start a pleasant panorama walk above the Riviera of Budva. After a refreshing stop at the church of Ogradnica we start our descent. On the way back there is a great viewpoint towards the island of Sv. Stefan. Overnight in 3* hotel in Budva.

Day 7 - Transfer to the airport Podgorica or Dubrovnik
